Audubon Zoo

Worth visiting!

Rainy...

I love zoos. However, they really need more shelter. We were in the safari area when a sudden rain shower hit. The entire group was soaked before we could even find a tree to huddle under. Then we got to eat at an overpriced McDonald’s.

You can find just about anything you want here. The bartering to be done is immense.

Aquarium Of The Americas

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I got to pet a small shark and a starfish. It was alright, but after awhile it got monotonous. Fish, fish, shark, unidentified critter, fish… Petting the shark was probably the best thing.

Lafayette Cemetery No. 1

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

We went on a tour. I wasn’t a happy camper as I was soaking wet from being caught with no shelter at the zoo just beforehand. Nevertheless it was awe-inspiring to see all the graves. Plus, I’m a big Anne Rice fan :)

French Quarter

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

We went through at night in a large group while on a Haunted History tour. It was very active and the drunks were quite amusing.

South Bend

Home Away From Home

I was born in La Porte, which is basically another part of South Bend with another name. I still have a lot of family in the area so we usually visit every so often. One of Oprah Winfrey’s homes is nearby, much to the delight of my mother. Near her home there’s also a great little apple orchard with awesome green apples.

Mammoth Cave

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

I visited with a group I’m in and we went on a tour (not sure which). It was pretty cool inside and the lights went off whenever another tour group came in, much to my amusement as several people in the group would let out high pitched shrieks. In their defense we were going down slippery metal stairs. It was very beautiful inside and the area around the caves is very serene. Even with the gobbling of free-roaming turkeys.

Cumberland Falls

Worth visiting!

I live in Corbin, so I visit the falls often. It’s maybe 15 or 20 minutes away from my home, so we go down to the beach or we take visiting relatives down to see the waterfall.

Kentucky Down Under

Worth visiting!

Went on a school trip. My friend, our advisor, and myself opted to watch the sheep dog show rather than go in the caves. We got to feed baby lambs and milk a cow. Afterward we made friends with one of the exotic birds as we waited for our group to get back.
