New York City

Worth visiting!

Why I recommend this place to visitors

I’ve visited NYC five times in a span of three years in high school. I was in the Art Club, and we had tons of fund raisers every year to fund two trips to the city (I live about five hours away by bus) per year to visit various museums. Because of the nature of the trips, all I’ve really seen of the city are it’s museums, which are well worth five hours on a hot, stinky greyhound bus with a bunch of annoying high school kids.

The Metropolitan was the centeral stop of every trip. The place is so huge, you can visit over and over and still see something new every time. We tended to get lost, always seeming to end up in the Egyptian area, why I don’t know, but we did. The cafeteria is also a good source of general yumminess, if you’re willing to pay a little more than is fair.

The Guggenheim is also very nice, if only for the architecture of the building itself. Anyone who’s seen “Men in Black” has seen it. It’s the building the alien jumps off the roof of at the beginning. I can’t say I cared much for either of the exhibits I saw there, they weren’t to my taste, but it’s still nice.

My memory of high school is fading even only a year and a half out, so I won’t go into any other detail of the other museum’s we visited, just to say that along with the Met and the Guggenheim, the Museum of Modern Art is MOST DEFINITELY worth a visit, and I wish I could go back to get in there again and see more.

Unfortunately, my exposure to NYC is limited to the museums and a tour of the U.N we took when the Art Club split the cost of the trip with the foreign language club. I’ve never done any touristy things there, but the museums, man, the museums.
