Queen Victoria Market

Worth visiting!

Great prices for leather coats etc

Probably the best place in Oz to get leather clothing, or so I found.

Can’t wait to get back there…

Mount Wellington

Worth visiting!

Great views, but bloody cold

The view from atop Mt Wellington makes the icy winds coming from Antartica worth it. The drive up is easy enough and the views are really worth it but a word of warning, take warm clothes, you’ll need them

Cadbury Factory Tour

Not worth visiting!

Disappointed

When we went we’d been told that there was all the chocolate you can eat as you go around. NOT TRUE!

We got one square of chocolate at each station and it was handed out almost surgically using tongues and latex gloves. Half of the machinery was stopped with lots of very bored looking workers stood around doing nothing.

More tourists than workers or so it seemed.

The famed Cadbury shop wasn’t as good as my local supermarket price or range wise. The only major difference was that I could pay a lot of money for rejects.

I’ve been there though and I suppose that is all that is important…

Hobart

Worth visiting!

Cool place

Hobarts a great place, very clean, very old and yet modern is mixed with the very old. The city is fantastic, so are the people.

Lots of wilderness near by

The beer is fantastic, Cascade Brewery is the local and they have beers on the island that they don’t export. It’s worth it just for that.

Try the fish and chips on the wharf, they’re superb

Port Arthur

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

A beautiful place, I can’t wait to go back.

Do the ghost tour, WORTH IT!

Canberra

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

I was really impressed with Canberra, sure the weather is terrible but the city is well designed and beautiful to drive around.
People criticise the round a bouts all over Canberra but if you know how to drive they’re a breeze, and certainly better than traffic lights everywhere!

Go to the War Memorial, it is beautiful, the Embassies are cool and Old Parliament House is worth a look too.

The place was designed by experts, it is extremely photgenic and should be visited and enjoyed

Wagga Wagga

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: 3 months in hell

I spent 3 months just outside of Wagga in a place called Milpo. Also known as the Kapooka Military Area, the Australian Armys 1st Recruit Training Battalion.
Ignoring the fact that basic training isn’t supposed to be enjoyed, the people of Wagga don’t welcome the Diggers, the weather is not the most hospitable {part of the reason they built the base there!} and it is a long way from everywhere.
On a positive note, the Victoria Hotel was cool, they welcomed us and served a good cold beer. The mates I met there were great, just a shame we all moved away.
I’ve been back since and it doesn’t seem as bad now but unfortunately you only get one chance to make a first impression.

Darwin

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: A place like no other

Darwin is a place like no other, the locals are a breed apart. true multiculturalism to the extreme, you see groups of kids walking around and they don’t care for colour they all mix. Black, White, Asian you name it they mix there.
The locals have a very, very laid back attitude. Those of us from the south like to comment that NT {Northern Territory} really stands for Not Today, Not Tomorrow, Not Tuesday, Not Thursday. No one in Darwin seems to rush, yet everything gets done.
The population is very transient and the population more than doubles in size over the dry season which is winter in the rest of Australia.
Still it is a great place to visit even if just for a short time.
