Elk Grove

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: only visit if you need home ownership

unless you live here, or you’re looking to buy a house here, there’s really no reason to be here. it’s just a lackluster suburb with shopping and an increasing crime rate. most people just view it as a stop in life rather than somewhere you would want to live permanently.

A review of this place: Always had a good time

Went here for a WWE PPV and a Kings game. The Kings game was fun since we had a lower level luxury box. the preferred parking was also great, and it allowed us to quickly get out of there after the game had ended. I can’t really say anything bad, since I haven’t had a bad experience.

Old Sacramento Historic District

Worth visiting!

It can be fun

There’s a lot of interesting shops to catch at Old Town. If you do go, definitely go during the day. I’ve only been there twice at night.

Once was to an event at Scratch 8, some club, while walking back at night i saw two people being chased by a mob of people. not sure what transpired, but I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to stick around and watch.

Another time I went with my friends on a Friday night. We were under 21 at the time, so we couldn’t get into the clubs. Which was all that was open and available to see.

Just walking around, there were a lot of questionable people staring us down, sizing us up. Luckily we looked tough, so nothing came of anything, but we didn’t waste anytime getting back and driving away. The worst part was it cost us five dollars in parking, and there wasn’t any fun to be had.

Reno

A review of this place: Lots to See

I just went there a couple of months ago, and it’s almost shocking to see how much it’s changed. If you’re into casinos and entertainment, this is the place for you. Especially if you don’t have the time or resources to get to Vegas.

It’s a mini Vegas in the making. They’ve spent a lot of money renovating things, and it shows. My favorite casino to visit is the newest one, which used to be the Reno Hilton, it’s now called the Grand Sierra Resort.

I’ve always won money when I played at their casino. Dulce, the celebrity owned italian resteraunt, has great food. Johnny Rockets is also available to those who are looking for something affordable, but don’t want to sacrifice quality.

It’s a little out there all alone on Second St., so if you want something closer to the action downtown. Harrah’s is a good place to start. I’ve gotten free rooms here, so I almost always stay here. The rooms are clean and if you’re comped for it, I can’t see how you would turn it down.

Another great place to stay is the Atlantis. Most casinos offer similar things, what sets them apart are the resteraunts, the shows, and the rooms.

Harrah’s and Atlantis both have great rooms, but i do slightly prefer Atlantis. As far as food, nothing beats the Grand Sierra in my book. Harrah’s has provided the best entertainment. Whether you want something family friendly or maybe even a little bit naughty. If only some big time attractions were added, then it would be as good as Vegas.

Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Most Overrated Landmark Ever

I never really understood why people hype the Walk of Fame. There’s nothing thrilling about seeing some plaque with someone else’s name on it. The area is also not clean or glamorous in any way. The people that live there don’t even appreciate the walk of fame, and I think that pretty much speaks about its value. The novelty wears off after one visit.

Hollywood

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Life on the Hill

When I think of Hollywood, I think of the Hills. Having stayed in the Mt. Olympus area, it’s almost impossible not to. It’s so peaceful and beautiful that you forget you’re actually in LA. It’s like a whole different world.

It’s also worlds away from the touristy areas of Hollywood. Which is what most people think of when they think of Hollywood. Well aside from the celebrities anyway.

A common misconception is that Hollywood is all glitz and glamour. The common area of Hollywood is nothing more than a stretch of overrated sidewalks filled with tourist traps. To really appreciate Hollywood, you have to look past those areas, and you’ll find some first rate hangouts and eateries.

Bring your checkbook as well. You’re going to need it to get by in this town.

Malibu

Worth visiting!

A review of this place: Lived there for six months

It’s probably my favorite place in all of California, and i’d go back if i could afford to live there. The winter months were always the best. there would only be two days were it rained, and the rest of the time you could go out in just your t-shirt.

when it did rain, it was even more beautiful because you could see the dark clouds against what seemed to be the never ending ocean. ironically i didn’t eat out much in Malibu, but there was a great fish place off of pch, i forget the name though. taverna tony’s was good, but not breath-takingly good.

aside from beaches, probably not much else to do, but it’s perfect for coming back to after being out on the town.
