Hokkaido, Japan

Untitled

Definitely worth visiting. I didn’t go there when it’s winter, so I’ll leave the beautiful snowy scenes to others to describe. Hokkaido is nice in summer as well, especially when you’re visiting the lavender fields. Great for hikers and people who wanna get closer to nature.

Suggestion: Try lavender-/melon-flavoured soft cream! These are Hokkaido’s famous foods (omiyage)

Paris, Ile de France

Untitled

Everyone loves Paris. The architecture, the streets, the arts, the wine… but I can’t believe my first trip to Paris has become my WORST trip ever.

Everything went wrong. I went to Disneyland Paris on a day the park had its record highest number of visitors so we had to queue up for a longggggg time for everything (and the Space Mountain had technical problem and was closed down after we’d queued up for almost an hour). I had a French meal at a nice restaurant but I threw up in the middle of the night after that, all the way until I went to London and got on my plane back home. There were few other major issues too unpleasant to be mentioned here.

That said, I still believe that Paris is a nice city to go to. I guess I just went to the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong person. Hope I have better luck next time =P

Metro Manila, Luzon

Nice food, nice people

I went to Manilla for a short trip several years ago because Dad was on expat for a few months there. The trip was completely out of spontaneity (at least to me) so I didn’t really travel around the city to leave footprints at tourist spots. Mostly spent my time with parents shopping and eating, just as we are in our home city.

While we were window shopping in a large cosmopolitan shopping mall, a very pleasant scent of barbecued food from a restaurant conquerred our senses. We had really great barbecue buffet there, the Angus beef drove us mad. The food was literally unforgettable. We love the beef so much that we ordered altogether SEVEN plates of it(?!) until we were too embarrassed to order any more. The staff were really nice, they actually encouraged us to order again! I’ve had a wonderful time in Manilla and I still miss the food today.
