Worth visiting!

I was 7 the last time I was in Scotland, where my mom was born and raised. The thing I remember the most vividly about the country is the colour. The skies were often a smokey grey and looked as though someone had stuffed them with wet cotton. The grass was greener than anywhere I have ever been before or since. The heather was a richpurple, the flowers somehow more vibrant and alive, the stars crips and light. In my memory, every colour is saturated, so that every thing around you feels alive.
Definitely take a good camera if you head to Scotland.
Other things I remember:
1) The tap water is (or was at the time) better than an anything bottled here in the US.
2) Chef Boy-Ar-Dee doesn’t taste the same as it does here.
3) The weather changes constantly, but it’s usually cold.
4) The waves on the coastline have a more poetic feel to them (though my experience with US coastlines is limited to white sandy beaches)
5) Marching bagpipers are REALLY loud (and I go to a school with a pipeband, but it doesn’t even compare)
6) Fish and chips is amazing (Though for health reasons I hear they no longer wrap them in newspaper. Mom swears that the fish taste much better the traditional way.)
7) People are sometimes impossible to understand.
