It was reccommended to us by a number of people, the first of whom we met on the bus from Bristol Temple Meads station to Glastonbury. We were looking for the pub and found it on our way to the Tor, along Chilkwell Street. It really is THE pub to be at in Glastonbury, with local bands playing regularly, really friendly bar staff (who treat you like a regular from your first visit!), a fully stocked ROCK jukebox, locally brewed ales and ciders and even a BBQ that was going on one night we were there.
That night with the BBQ and a live band, the pub was full, the (lovely) beer garden was full and we were in the big car park at the back! No problem though as all the regulars there are really friendly and help you get through!
All in all, I would have to say that this is the best pub I’ve ever been to!!!

Great for all fans of History/Architecture reguardless of religion! The ruins are beautiful and the grounds are well-kept, allowing picnickers. There is also a little cafe outside which does a great cream tea (for 2) for under a fiver!
We chatted to a man in costume/character at the Abbey, who was a great laugh and very informative, and who proceeded to demonstrate one of his really engaging and enthusiastic talks to children (as the bf and I play characters where we work – a Celtic Camp).
The displays inside the entrance building were also very informative and showed many original features/furnishings of the abbey.

The Well and gardens are BEAUTIFUL! My bf and I visited on a hot day after a morning of walking around the Abbey so this was a perfect place to chill out and cool down afterwards! The paddling pool+waterfall were a godsend as they are FREEZING!
We filled up a couple of bottles from the Lion’s Head and drank a fair bit of the water – very high iron content – bringing a fair amount back to share between pagan friends of ours.
The swing seat is great to relax on, in its’ own rather secluded little garden (not the one in the meadow which was very busy while we were there). There are also a few little chairs hidden by foliage in hedge-like bits to really disappear from the other visitors! It was great fun finding those spots!
The Well&Gardens also offer a membership, included in which is 24/7 access to the grounds and accommodation in the retreat building which is well worth the low fee!

What an amazing view from the top! Despite my bf and I being rather unfit and both having asthma we made it to the top for sunset both nights and boy it was worth it!!! You can’t go to Glastonbury without going here!
On the first night we met a group of guys (in fancy dress as knights and wizards) on a “Quest” around landmarks in the area and the second night we met a guy called Bear who was a legend of a guy… It’s worth talking to others up there lol!
On the way back from the Tor it’s also worth stopping for a pint in the Rifleman’s Arms – an awesome rock pub with regular live bands, a great juke-box and friendly bar staff -

My boyfriend took me to Glastonbury as he’d been before and knew I’d love it!
It’s WELL WORTH the long/steep walk to the top of Glastonbury Tor to watch the sunset! The Abbey, Chalice Well and Rifleman’s Arms (pub) are all worth a visit too! These sites are all in quite close proximity to each other, basically branching off Chilkwell Street at different points - I’d learnt my way around the town within a couple of hours!
The locals are very friendly/pagans/hippies eg. the lady who helped us find buses from Bristol Temple Meads station to Glastonbury (thank you!)
The campsite we stayed at (Isle of Avalon) was GREAT! It cost us £14 per night based on our 3-man tent and had a fantastic washblock and other facilities including a communal chest freezer, washing machines, tumble dryer, iron and sinks to do your washing up in! There are water and rubbish points in the middle of the fields and they even had a pile of bricks in case anyone brought disposable BBQs – they really think of everything!

This trip was the first time I’d been there, luckily it was the guys’ (my boyfriend and our mate) second time there so they knew their way round a bit which helped a lot! Haha, even odd things like knowing to be on the lookout for cyclists and trams when walking along the street are useful to know!
Anyways, we plan to go back again some time (most likely the summer) - Bring it on!

Went to Olu Deniz, Fethiye and Marmaris. Saw turtles during a baot trip, went for a mud bath (felt like a hippo, but was great fun! LOL!) Local restaurants are great and the Majestic Hotel (where we stayed) was really nice yet quite cheap :) Although we went in low season (that meant not a great deal was open) this makes for a nice relaxing holiday in the warm as opposed to the tourist flooded (extremely busy) summer months! It’s cheap and easy to get the dolmush (bus) to nearby towns, though they travel slower than some of the locals on their push-bikes! They’re definately for patient people who like to take in the views lol.
