Corn Palace, Mitchell
So what else do you have to do in Mitchell?
On our way across this long and desolate state, my wife and I tent camped in the Michell KOA. Of course we had to visit the Corn Palace—along with the great Cabelas store! Most of what is worth seeing is on the outside and it is a truly unique art form. Once inside, you find that the “Palace” is a basketball gymnasium with the history of the art all along the walls. There was even a gift emporium taking up the floor of the gym when we visited. We enjoyed the time and the art, but after about an hour we headed back to camp (or to Wal-Mart, I forget which). It’s worth a look, but don’t make it your destination.
