This is truly a beautiful lake in Eastern Iceland. The water is an aqua blue and the country side is beautiful. You have one of the largest mountains looking at you with snow and on the eastern banks of the lake, one of the largest forested areas in Iceland. Take the boat tour and look for the resident monster who lives deep in the lake.

This little village is quite a nice place to visit. It was a day with bright sunshine and blue skies when we went and so it just added to the beauty. The little town sits at the end of a fjord after you cross some beautiful mountains. Quite a nice setting.

This is the best and only way to see Iceland in a conventional car. The area in between Akureyri and Egilsstadir is now all paved and makes the trip through the desert much, much easier now. At every turn, there is beauty and something to see.

This is a wood recreational area just south of Akureyri and is a fun place to stoll through the forests of Iceland and to get up close to the Icelandic horses. If you find yourself in Akureyri, go see it.

Very pretty place that we had all to ourselves on a weekday.

The forest is nice and Atlavik area is great for camping. This is the place to come to just relax and get with nature. There are other more exciting places to go in Iceland, but if you just want to relax, this is a laid back area to do so.

Very green, very pretty little town. There is not much to really do here as it is a very small town, but it is a good base if you want to see the Eastern forests of Iceland. The people are very friendly here and life is very, very laid back. If it is peace and relaxation you want, this is the place. There is a beautiful camping ground at Hallorstadur.

Great place to visit. I would recommend it to anyone. Beautiful people, beautiful country.
