Cancun is what it is...
Of course, Cancun is overdeveloped, overcommercialized, and slavishly dedicated to U.S. (and, to a lesser extent, European) tourism. If you want the “real Mexico,” go somewhere else. But if you want warm, lovely beaches, self-indulgent liesure, and a place where it’s not considered unambitious to plan your day around a hammock and a tall drink, this is the place for you.
