The Golden West burned down on February 28, 2008. The Launchpad and El Rey Theatre on either side were also heavily damaged by smoke and water. It is unknown at this time whether the pub will be rebuilt.

If you’re lucky you might see some F16s take off from Kirtland or something, and it’s a small airport, no need to take trams to get from one gate to another and you can’t possibly get lost…
Garduño’s is ok, but it’s basically ‘gringoized’ New Mexican food, and if you want authentic get a burrito from the take out shop, even though it’s pretty expensive.

Best salsa in the World. I kid you not. Probably the hottest too. Even the “Not As Hot” is really spicy, but it’s hard to find.

If you drive up don’t forget $3 for parking! There’s also no running water up there, but there are permanent ‘outhouses’.

Wow. HUGE portions. Totally stuffed because everything was really freaking good. They even have calabicitas and they put cheese over the refried beans the way New Mexicans are supposed to. The chile wasn’t that hot, but hotter than Garcia’s, and there’s LOTS of it. And the sopaipillas were really thick and crispy, not all fluffy and light like those weakling sopas at the other restaurants… Delicious.
