Quilmes, GBA Sur

Quilmes - the town of the beer

Quilmes itself is a pleasant town. We walked around the center of town and then visited several of the neighborhoods. There are some really nice houses near the downtown that rival any of the homes in the more prosperous northern suburbs of Buenos Aires. Also, a number of expensive boutique stores in Quilmes. But, overall, Quilmes has a very average feel to it, nice and home-like, not pretentious. There is also a very long river front, which appears to be a couple of decades beyond its prime but still popular among the locals. Quilmes is centered around the huge brewery named after the city. Near the brewery is a quaint barrio of charming small houses originally built for workers of the brewery. Nearby is also a very nice park, with a restaurant that features all things Quilmes (mostly the beer, not just the town).

La Boca, Buenos Aires

Boca - Only for a couple of hours

Most visitors only need to spend about two hours in Boca. Don’t stray away from the touristy areas. Don’t spend too much money on the overpriced touristy stuff either. Do visit the Quinquela Martin museum and learn about a great Argentine painter who lived in Boca and came up with the idea to paint the buildings bright colors. Of course, futbol fans must find their way to the stadium. Non-sports fans can satisfy themselves with picturesque photos of the area.

Foz Do Iguaçu, Paraná

Go for the views

Great views of the falls from the Brazilian side but prefer to stay on the Argentine side.
