Not worth visiting!

A review of this place: Some things we need in this town?

Has anyone noticed how this town just exploded in the last 18 months?

Everywhere you drive, you’ll see new homes being built, new roads opening up, new banks, and new stores…

There might me some hope for this place yet…!?

If we could get some “fun” places for all ages, like a Dave & Busters, a roller rink, a trading card /gaming center, etc., and not just the bowling alley which is super expensive for kids, that would be great!

Also, they need more recycling bins; there aren’t that many around and when you finally get to one, it’s constantly full!

The library doesn’t have a very good selection of books; it’s sorta lacking—-could this have anything to do with locals being high school drop-outs?

Any other suggestions about what this town needs to make it a little more bearable or resident-friendly?

Old Capital

Worth visiting!

The Old Capital of Alabama in Tuscaloosa County

Tuscaloosa was founded in 1816 by Thomas York on land opened to settlement after the Creek War; it was named for the Choctaw chief Tuscaloosa (“Black Warrior”), who fought the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1540. The city served as the state capital (1826–46) and was partially burned down…

French Quarter

Worth visiting!

The first time I went to this place

Arrived Canal Street. Saw the Ferry boats & RiverWalk, Harrah’s Casino & Aquarium. Steamboats on Mississippi river are absolutely fabulous! Carries you back to the Tom Sawyers & Huck Finns of the time! Trams (trolleys on tracks) are still operating in this town! Very quaint! Walked Canal St. to Decatur, visiting shops & cafes along the way and taking lots of pictures. Saw a mime riding a bike!!! Statues (ie. Joan of
Arc), Cathedrals & other notable photo sites. Stopped at Jackson Square & French Market. Crossed on St. Philip’s, intersected Chartres & Royal (all street names are in French)—totally taken in by the local beauty & incomparable architecture! Reached Bourbon, what a treat! The balconies are to die for! A good mix of French, Greek revival, Italianate style, Gothic, Queen Anne & Georgian Architecture. The horse & buggies really added to the local charm. Pubs, shops & hotels /pensions are breath-taking, excellent flora and lots of
voodoo & mardi gras souvenirs as well! Great stuff! Walked for 2 hours in the scorching sun but was worth every minute! Didn’t have enough time to visit museums, plantations or the U.S. Mint, but on way out of town we made a point to visit one of the famous “Cities of the Dead” St. Louis Cemetery (1789)! What an impressive site to see!

(really wanted to try some authentic Cajun Bayou food! maybe next time…)

P.S. Katrina’s devastation still visible in many parts of N.O. especially driving on I-10

Why I want to go to this place

I don’t know but I’ve had many dreams about visiting Ireland. I mean real dreams in my sleep, like something calling me there.

I see plush greenery, castles and feel something from long ago pulling me there.

Is this a fantasy or a flashback from a previous life?

The Acropolis

Worth visiting!

Unlike any place in the World!

You can feel the energy of the Ancients! The transplantation of the Olive Tree is a nice touch!

If you regard philosophy, science, mathematics & democracy (just to name a few) in high esteem, this is the place you need to visit…

Worth visiting!

This will be your best vacation!

Worth every penny!

You can go to any of the 1200 islands, visit thousands of archaeological sites, go hiking in mountains, party nude on the beaches, and best of all you’ll NEVER be carded for underage drinking or smoking!

Just bring your backpack, sun block and some money!

This place is extremely dull for a “university town”....

All it does is thunderstorm around here—every month there’s a tornado warning!

Locals are curiously preoccupied with other people’s business! They also move slower than my grandma! I waited 35 minutes to get 2 hamburgers at a burger joint. They’re slow mentally as well and don’t know much about the world outside this town…oh, and best of all if you’re not watching (or playing) football you are expected to pray! What the crap is that all about?
