Australian Wooden Boat Festival, Hobart

Untitled

I love boats, and especially wooden boats (hence wanting to build a boat). I’m an ex-cabinet-maker (if you can ever say you’re an ex anything … it’s not like I don’t use the skills still. Maybe I should say freelance or something!!!) and seeing the time and skill that goes into wooden boats fascinates and amazes me. I especially love the tallships. I’d love to build wooden, but I don’t think it’s practical for what I want. I can still appreciate them though!

I was this close to going to the 2007 Australian Wooden Boat Festival, but money and personal rel’ship issues got the better of me. Now, I’m making it my personal aim to be there in 2009 (it’s a biennial event).

Hobart, prepare for my coming …

Egypt, Africa

Untitled

I’ve always wanted to go to Egypt. I spent a year overseas and one of my regrets is that I didn’t visit while I was on that side of the globe. Still, no time like the future!

I used to read a lot when I was a kid, and like the dinosaurs, this was one of those awe-inspiring places I was hooked on. One day, one day …

One thing I will say – I read somewhere that the Great Pyramid used to be covered with limestone and shone like a mirror in the rising sun. The limestone apparently protected it from erosion. That was until Napoleon came and stripped it naked …

Shame. I would have liked to have seen that.
