My dad was in the Coast Guard when I was growing up and we were stationed in Kodiak twice: four years in the mid-70’s and two in the early 80’s. Kodiak is beautiful,—milder climate (summer and winter) than the upper plains states in the lower 48.

My folks, brother and I drove up to Inuvik in 1990, when us “kids” were both in our early 20’s… We were there from July 3rd to 5th and the sun never went down on us while we were there—spectacular!

This isn’t a place to bring in high expectations for entertainment. Take your time, sit and appreciate the landscape, the atmosphere, the people.

Great choices of second-run films, and occasional art-house films. If that cinema blockbuster is about to come out on DVD, check out the Crest because it may well still be on the big screen. And for $3.00 a ticket you can still afford the popcorn! A great cheap date.
