Boston, Massachusetts

What a great place!

Well, I got to Boston for my cousin’s wedding in April, and fell in love with the place. Apparently the tail-end of the Big Dig was still going on, so a lot of the roadway between where our hotel was and the financial district was being dug up, but that didn’t hamper us in getting around. It was smaller than I expected, which was nice, as I felt it was relatively easy to get around to places. I wish I could have walked around it more, but I had two older relatives with me who wouldn’t have been able to keep up. It’s difficult to single out my favourite parts, as the whole place was just lovely. The people were really friendly too, and it was so refreshing to hear people in shops wishing you a nice day, which is a far cry from the reception you get in shops in the UK! I’d love to go back some time, just to get around to the places I missed this time!

The Tower Of London, Tower Hamlets

Several museums in one!

The Tower of London is a fascinating place, and well worth the cost of entry – yes, it’s expensive, but you get at least four museums in one place, as well as being able to go into some of the towers and go on the Yeoman Warder’s tour. Note: do NOT call the Yeoman Warders “Beefeaters”! This is an insulting term, and they don’t really like it.

Boston, Massachusetts

Getting there!

I’m going to Boston next April, to my cousin’s wedding. My mother and I are taking a two-week holiday and plan to tour Boston and the surrounding areas. I can’t wait, Boston is one of the (many!) places in the US that I really want to visit, and I can’t believe it’s actually going to happen fairly soon!
