London

Worth visiting!

Never gets old (even the old parts)

I’ve been traveling to London quite a bit lately, but I always have a great time. It just feels comfortable and homey … even though there are 12 million people in the metro area, so I hear.

It less of a hassle to travel there from the East Coast of the US than it is to go to the West Coast, in my opinion. Why go to California when you go to Europe?

Or for you lame, “I love Tokyo … Disneyland was great” kind of people, why go to California’s Legoland when you can go to Windsor?

Paris

Worth visiting!

17 Years of French class ... and still worth it!

I started learning French in Kindergarten and ended up majoring in French in college. Too bad that I still didn’t get to go until five years after I graduated from college.

It was so worth it though!

I was for 2 weeks because of work, but I bought a couple week-long Metro passes and explored the city every night and all day on the weekends. I was so exhausted, but had a wonderful time.

São Paulo (state)

(in Brazil)

Worth visiting!

For such a big city though, it sometimes feel claustrophobic

I have enjoyed Sao Paulo both times I’ve gone (1 week and 2 weeks), but I just can’t relax there. I felt disoriented all the time, which is a really strange feeling for me. You could blindfold me, put me on a plane and I would get around no matter where I landed … except Sao Paulo.

The food is always wonderful, but I’m not volunteering to go back anytime soon.

Cork

Worth visiting!

Cork-tacular

I think they have a little “Second City” syndrome, like Chicago does compared to New York or Los Angeles, but I always have a good time while I’m in Cork.

I feel comfortable there … that’s my highest praise, I suppose. I could live in Cork and not feel out of place. I couldn’t say the same for half the states in the US.

Québec City

Worth visiting!

J'adore la ville de Quebec!

I lived here for four months during the summer between Junior and Senior year of College to hone my French skills and I met my wife there … need I say more?

Gunma

(in Japan > Honshu > Kantō)

Worth visiting!

Onishi, Gunma

My friend was an English teacher in a small town called Onishi, near Fujioka and Shimmachi. I got to visit her during a holiday weekend when they were holding their summer festival.

Tokyo was cool, but getting to participate in small-town Japanese life, if only for a couple of days, was the thrill of a lifetime.

I can't wait to go back!

I was in Shinjuku for two weeks in July 2004 and had such an awesome time. Yeah, I was there for work, but nothing beats leaving the office and having one of the greatest cities in world at your disposal.

Whether I went for conveyer belt sushi or ran to the food courts at the department stores for last minute deals on dinner (always 1/2 price by the time I got there), no one should ever say they were bored in Tokyo.

Rhode Island

Worth visiting!

So good ... I moved back!

You’re never far from the ocean, you’re close to cities of all sizes (Providence, Boston, NYC) and just a couple hours drive to the mountains for hiking or skiing. And if you don’t like any of these, head for one of four airports within 100 miles.

The cost of living is great compared to Massachusetts and Connecticut … I’m very happy I came home five years ago to start a family.

I’ve traveled around the world for work, but I’m always proud to say I’m from Rhode Island.
