Savannah, Georgia

In my top 5 favorite US cities

Utterly charming. One of the last hold outs against the Pottery Barnification of America. The central city is so lush and green with old fashioned town squares, a park with a great fountain, and the most beautiful and abundant azalias I’ve ever seen. If you only eat at one restaurant, make it “Lady and Sons”, if you eat at a second make it that Moroccan one with the firey floor show. The architecture is a feast for the eyes (and check out that tabby pavement, it’s encrusted with seashells). I recommend taking a tour or two: the ‘candle light ghost tour’ is an especially fun outing, and a day-time walking/archetectural tour and trolley tour of the central city are a must. Savannah is rich with history and great stories.
