I did it! I posted a full entry on my 43 things page, so I won’t say much here except that the trek was worth every penny and every sore muscle. Highly recommended!

over 6 years agoOut of nowhere one drunken night several months ago, one of my friends mentioned to me that she was thinking about going to Peru and hiking the Inca Trail. We talked about it for a while and I let her know that I was seriously interested and to let me know the details as she got further in the planning. At that point it was just a hair above a pipe dream… I wasn’t sure if I would have the money, enough time off, etc.
Fast forward to now… I’ve started a new job and have some time off to use this year, and got a sweet little sign-on bonus just as she was preparing to book the trip. I still had some details to work out on my end, and now some of the flights she is on are booked, but I’ve unearthed some other options that I think can work to get us there at around the same time.
I didn’t want to get too excited about this, as I just wasn’t sure if I could swing it, but now that it is in front of me and plans are being made, I can’t help but get excited about it. I really hope this trip can work out, but if not… next year. I am going. It is far less expensive than I thought… Under $3,000 after airfare, hike fees, hotels, and a side trip to a spa on an island in Lake Titicaca!
Please please please let this happen…
