A rumor about this place
Rumour has it all the doors to the buildings face South on this campus. Any idea why?

If you “wanna’ go home with an armadillo, [listen] to good country music from Amarillo and Abilene, [check out some of] the friendliest people and the prettiest women you’ve ever seen,” then my hometown, the ATX, may suit you just fine. Be sure to try some of the local flavour when it comes to restaurants, bars and juke joints, too, before you leave. If you leave…. Please do, though, it’s getting crowded here. _

Big deal, so four political bodies meet here on a fabricated boundary. Big. Fat. Hairy Deal.

If you have to stop here, then go visit the Coopersmith Brewery [even if you came to see the New Belgium (Fat Tire, 1554, etc.) brewery] instead.

Breckenridge Brewery. If you love beer, and I know that you do…stop here for a spell. Stop long enough and you will truly be under a spell, especially if they’re brewing up some of that espresso porter and seasonal barleywine. Whoo!

not as fun as the one in Rockport; if the City ever cleans up the crackheads and assorted homeless denizens of Waller Creek’s “riverwalk,” then the view outside this restaurant might make it a worthwhile destination for cold beers, and the chthonian messy delights of raw oysters, spicy boiled shrempf ‘n crawdads. Don’t forget to suck the head!

“flips,” is known to most of the coffeeshop crowd for its Barton Springs location. Well, to any of the granola-set that frequents the southern location, they might be surprised to find the very plastic 60’s chic flair that the Triangle Park location has going on. It definitely caters to more of the University of Texas students, faculty, staff and even carries “The Daily Disappointment” (erm, I mean, ”- Texan.”) Ample front cafe crawl space outside the front to sit and enjoy a nice breeze (if you can summon one). Didn’t stay for the live music, but I see flips-triangle hosts regular performances.

Decent food, stiff Mexican Martinis, good people-watching, kitchen’s open late, easier parking than campus; comfy outdoor patio, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Couldn’t ask for much more in a TexMex place (emphasis TexMex, not Mexican food…there’s better places for that).
