I love medieval architecture so seeing the old town wall was exhilarating for me. I even went in the winter and still loved it. It is now my goal to go back when there is green grass and flowers in bloom. Bestill my heart! And my favorite restaurant in the world is there — Olde Hansa — I ate there two nights in a row and got the same meal I loved it so much. And the honey mead too!!!!!!!! I am salavating just thinking about it!
over 7 years agoI loved my visit there, right down to the train ride from Moscow. Then my boyfriends cousin drove from Vilnius to pick us up and bring us there — I was so happy for the drive through the country.
over 7 years agoI have a picture of Trakai Castle too!!! But mine was taken in the winter, and the water was frozen. It looks very cool; I am going to have to scan it and submit it here…
it is unfortunate though that economically they are not doing so well. We went to a small cafe/diner after visiting the castle and the women there said that she missed the communist days because they were actually better off…too bad. I hope that their situation improves. Everyone should visit and promote travel there! That might help a little bit…
