Jerez de la Frontera

Worth visiting!

The last time I went to this place

I didn´t get to see half the things on offer..
The flamenco i saw was average, tailored for the tourist..
Had some beautiful tapas, nearby beaches are fantastic..
Bodegas are interesting the first time, Tio Pepe the best of the few i saw; though the highlight was seeing Picasso´s signature..
Would have loved to see the artistic equestrians at work, but hey.. can´t have it all..

Spanish Steps

A review of this place

Very crowded.. all the Dolce and Gucci shops are literally at the bottom of the Steps..
If you’re interested, Keats-Shelley museum is at the top on the right hand side..
Keats died there, worth a look..
Impressive though they are, i don’t recommend going in the day..
Leave it till early morning/night if you can.. :)

House Of The Virgin Mary

Worth visiting!

So much in so little..

Debatable or not, the history invovled here is hard to ignore..
Was bowled over by the tranquility of the place..
Apparently Mary was brought here by er.. Saint John..(?) after the JC hit the sack.. and then… you know the story..
Read more about it, it’s absolutely fascinating. :)
Recommend this little corner of Efes..
Take water, and lots of it.

News about this place

Another piece of history lost, and all of a sudden i feel special.. :)
If you didn’t ever get the chance, they were restoring it..
Poured £25M into the restoration, and then this..

Wimbledon

Worth visiting!

Not much else..

Saw a five set thriller between Pioline and Becker..
Paid a fiver for a ticket someone had not had the time to get the best out of..
It’s almost like a cheap second hand ticket queue..
Epic.. in fact, the only thing was the strawberries & cream, which must be done, were more expensive!
Lots of history.. if you like your tennis..

Quality Line Ups Galore

So many “stories about this place”..
W/ the scene set (cheers below)..
Know that this place is SO epic..
Anyone who hasn’t been, hasn’t lived..
I’m pretty sure Dick Whittington was talking about Fabric when he said his ” ..tired of London.. tired of life.. ” piece.
So many random meetings.. Very, raver / chillout friendly..
Everytime, line-ups are top notch, and the artists come and chill afterwards..
Mingle with your favourite DJ, that MC from THAT tune.. etc!
So many happy times..
Go.

Amsterdam

Worth visiting!

How this place changed my life

“a great place to find yourself if you feel like your in a rut in the corporate world back at home. I went for just a couple days and came back with a good perspective on my life”

So true.. got paid to go for a week with an advertising company, and came back a changed man..

There is sooo much more to see than coffee shops, (though if you find one the locals use, you’ll never look back), be it the breweries, the beautiful people (not many fatties about), or the frankly bizarre openness of the whole place..

Where else can you see 75 year old grannies checking out the latest dildos with no qualms about being frowned upon..?

Nowhere in the world like it.. though the amount of annoyingly loudmouthed tourists does irritate sometimes..

As an introduction to the Netherlands, or an idyllic escape from the normality of that “corporate world”.. Amsterdam is absolutely epic.

I will return. :)

Pisa

(in Italy > Toscana)

Worth visiting!

Once is Enough.

Worth visiting for The Leaning Tower alone, it is the generally accepted that there is little else to see in Pisa..

However, if you’ve read the Divine Comedy (Dante), there’s also the Palace of the Orologio, where Count Ugolino della Gherardesca was imprisoned and condemned to death.. and that’s worth a look..

Barring that.. you’ll be wondering how many mini-Leaning Tower statuetes the vendors have got through in the last 20 odd years, and almost hoping that the Tower just falls, so there’s something else to see..

Well, sort of.. :)

I Scream.

If you’re a fan of the History Of Art.. great, you don’t need me to tell you that this is THE place to be..
So much inspiration surrounds you it’s almost too much for one trip, and a return is a must for first time lovers..

Beautiful architecture, beautiful people, tasty wine.. and OMG, the ice cream! Don’t get me started on the ice cream..

‘Badiani’ and ‘Vivoli’ are two parlours i recommend, and are favourites with the locals, but if you’re from some uncultured place where a Ben & Jerry’s flavour is top of your list, you are in for such a treat..

Even at 3am. :)

Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres

Worth visiting!

A review of this place

Like many, i was sooo up for walking the labyrinth..
Like many more, i was very dissapointed to find ugly chairs strewn all over it… :(

Breathtaking Gothic architecture..

Sooo many statues it’s like watching a slideshow.. actually it’s nothing like a slideshow.. but you know..

I have to say i was very disappointed to discover that the French had removed and melted down the brass plaque that used to stand at the centrepoint of the labryinth.. when the army needed metal.. typical..

If i had the time to be poetic, i would say..
“It’s a place for meditation, just walking around, just sitting, just looking at those beautiful things”.. :)

You must go.
