Good day trip from the valley, but a rather boring place to spend the night (esp. if you arent the drinking type). Im from Mesa (a city where people seem to go to bed at 9) and I was amazed at the sheer lack of nightlife in Sedona.
The landscape is beautiful and there are lots of good shops/galleries, but the stuff starts all looking the same mighty quickly (and most of it isnt as unique as people like to make out).
The shopkeepers seemed mighty grumpy as well.
Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi is worth visiting as an example of the modern and forward looking aspects of the Arab/Muslim world. If you go, plan on going to Sharjah and Dubai as well. It is a small country and both sharjah and dubai have better architecture and shopping. There really isnt a lot to do in Abu Dhabi.
