Iraq

Why I want to go to this place

I’m pretty sure Iraq was the birthplace of humanity, which might explain why everyone is fighting over it. The place is war-torn right now, but there must be something of worth in such antiquity. If the country ever experiences peace in my lifetime, I’d like to breathe the air there.

Roots.

My grandmother was born in the part of Yugoslavia that is now Croatia, and my entire extended family is from that region. I know next to nothing about it, but I’d like to see what it’s like. Maybe someone there will look like me. :)

Santa Maria

Worth visiting!

Hometown.

I spent 18 years here and have watched it go through a lot of changes. It seems easier to love now that I’ve left… isn’t that the way it always works?

Not worth visiting!

I was born here.

Been back several times to visit my family. Definitely not my favorite place.

What's it like?

I’ve found a couple massage workshops in August or September that I’m interested in attending, or possibly a yoga workshop. There are so many great things offered, it seems hard to pick just one! I know workshop participants have full access to the grounds, hot tubs and art barn when a class isn’t in session, but I’m curious about what else there is to do there (that is somewhat organized). If I enroll in a massage workshop, for instance, would I have the opportunity to do yoga?

My great aunt lives in Cape Town.

Looks like I might be going in August. This trip has been 10 years in the making! Too long, I say.

Land that I love

Spent 11 precious days here on spring break while studying in Cambridge. I’ve never encountered so many warm, hospitable, lovely people in one place before. I hope to go back soon.
