Amtrak’s Empire Builder train passes through Glacier National Park. After a thousand or so miles of endless plains, the sudden change of scenery is welcomed by all.

My review

Massachusetts is like California in that it’s a great place to live, but not the best place to live. It has earned the nickname ‘Taxachusetts’ for good reason.

Most of the places worth seeing are along the eastern shoreline: Boston, Harvard University, Plymouth Rock, the Ocean Spray factory, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.

I’ve got to make a trip to the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, as it’s the only pro sports HOF that I haven’t visited.

George Bush I has good taste

Maine is my favorite state in New England. I went there on a family vacation over ten years ago, and loved every second of my time there. We started in the charming city of Portland and made our way up the coastline to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Along the way, we swam in the Atlantic Ocean, ate some delicious seafood, saw some lighthouses, and went on a cool whalewatching tour.
