This is where my granny and mom were born so I feel a special attachment to this state.
over 5 years agoSenegal was my first African experience. I was 13 years old and spoiled and going to the motherland for the first time. I was actually my first time outside of North America. It really opened my eyes, my stay in Senegal. And going to Goree Island, the slave dungeon… I don’t think I was mature enough to understand what the significance was of being there. Now I understand.
