I am not sure where in Brazil I want to go, besides the rainforest. I don’t want to get stuck in the tourist traps, nor do I want to go on the vacations I hear people are taking where they stay in the ghettos to learn what life for real Brazilians is like (I grew up in a ghetto, don’t want to vacation there).

If I went, I’d have to know someone there already (I sort of do, but we’re not that close that I could come stay with him on holiday) so I wouldn’t be stuck in all the touristy spots.

I went to Arizona some years back on a family reunion trip. We stayed at this great resort just outside scottsdale (I believe, I was too taken by the sights to pay attention to signs lol). My first night there I was on one of the rooftop sundecks at the resort with my dad when it began to thunder, then rain. Only it wasn’t raining. You could smell the rain and see the occasional flicker of lightening jump from cloud to cloud and now and then you heard a rain drop plop somewhere, but it wasn’t really raining. It was July and very hot so the rain evaporated before it even touched the ground (I’m from MI so this is amazing to me lol). I just stared up at the sky in utter shock that I wasn’t getting drenched. In a few minutes the sky cleared and everything was the way it had been.

I can’t remember the name of the hotel/resort we stayed at (the weekend we were there it changed owners but it had been called the Five Points before that) I really recommend it. Beautiful pools (including an adults only pool with a swim-up bar if you’re into that sort of thing) and a wonderful view of the mountains in almost every direction. We ended up staying a few extra days after the family reunion was over because no one wanted to leave.

I really want to move to Arizona, but I don’t want to aid in the constant haze and water shortage they have there so it’ll just be a dream for me.

Strictly for religious reasons. I don’t want to live there.

My great-grandfather immigrated from Samos and I would love to visit there, even if I never find family. The fact that I share blood with SOMEONE on the island is enough to make me feel connected.
