But if you’re on a budget, the burger at lunch is moderately priced and supposedly fantastic.

Esperanza itself is a mix of small local town and ex-pat American tourist strip (the Malecon). There are plenty of hotels and it’s so close to the beaches that it is the better place to stay on Vieques. It did leave me with an unsavory feeling that there’s some informal segregation going on, largely due to the prices places charge.
over 5 years agoIt’s touristy but amazing enough that it’s worth dealing with the fat tourists on the tram to see the massive dome in Clara cave. Tres Pueblos is a huge sinkhole that can only be seen from above. Unfortunately even the guides can’t express a large amount of fascination for it in its current presentation.
Apparently there are tours to rappel down the side of some sinkholes (about $60) or kayak down the underground Rio Camuy.
Oh yeah, It’s not really in Camuy proper.
