New York State, United States

If you can stand the filth...

New York is a fun place to visit. I’d never voluntarily live there. The crowds, the pollution, the rudeness of most everyone on the street…it all makes for a miserable experience. There are some neat things to see, some great historical locations, some fun things to do etc. But is it all worth the filth? In my opinion, no. Give me the wide open spaces of the west, with friendly people, low crime rates, and clean streets any day.

Idaho Falls, Idaho

My Home Town.

I was born here and spent the better part of my youth in this lovely town. It’s quiet, clean, and generally a very pleasant place to be. Of all the places I have lived in my life, Idaho Falls is the one place I long to return to. Perhaps it’s the nostalgia of days past or the familiarity of the beautiful green belt around the Snake River that call to me. I have literally nothing to go back to there. Of all the ties that bound me to the city, all but my grandmother, an aunt, and a couple of cousins have moved away. I have a few long-time friends there still, but I have not spoken to them in ages…but I think of them often, and fondly. I love Idaho Falls because it is small enough to make you feel like you are more than just a face in the crowd, yet large enough to make you feel like you are part of something important. As for being “repressively mormon,” yes there are a lot of LDS people there. Yet, somehow, someway, there are hundreds of different faiths which enjoy a strong presence in the city.

Sweden, Europe

I lived there for a while

I was very young (2 – 3 years old) when I lived here. I remember it’s natural beauty and the hospitality of the people. I especially remember the candy. Eat lots of chocolate if you go there.
