Monterey Bay Aquarium

Worth visiting!

A very educational day trip!

Definitely take the time to do the tour, then hang out and look at the exhibits afterward. That undersea canyon that’s right off the coast there provides us a unique chance to see what’s in the deeps and right next door. It’s one of the most informative and enjoyable places I’ve ever been.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Worth visiting!

Some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world.

Especially the parts that are almost 3 miles up in altitude. :)

It’s a wonderful national treasure, and I’d highly recommend anyone thinking about venturing there spend at least two weeks exploring it. From the old restored mining towns to the lakes and reservoirs fed from glaciers, it’s really an unforgettable trip.

Rivendell

No return

I think if I ever did get there, I’d never come back.

Portland

Worth visiting!

An awesome river city!

Portland is a great town. I love visiting and probably will do so again soon. The different communities of folks (pagan, poly, kinky, alternative, queer) are very close-knit there, but with a few exceptions they are willing to welcome anyone and give them a chance to fit in.

It’s probably one of the least-known, best places to settle in on the West Coast.

Kentucky

Worth visiting!

It depends on what you're looking for...

Kentucky has a lot of charm - horse breeding farms near Lexington & Louisville, beautiful lakes and hill-country scenery, nice friendly natives, and decent weather - it’s not nearly as hot/humid as the deeper South is.

The city to see is Louisville—parts of it are urban slum like most other cities, but being on the river gives it attitude and personality that’s difficult to find elsewhere.

All in all, KY has a lot of grace and charm. It’s not a frenetic, high-tension vacation spot, but instead will sneak in under your skin and leave you with a lot of unexpectedly good memories.

Denver

Worth visiting!

I lived in Denver for a year

... about 15 years ago. I loved it, and wished for a long time that I could go back. My most vivid memories of Independence Day fireworks are from that July—the elevation/thinner air made them stand out brilliantly, as if I could reach out and cup them in my hands…

My memories of it are very fond. I hope it’s retained some of its vitality and enthusiasm through the years.

Dallas

Not worth visiting!

It's a city much like any other.

No real notable architecture or any redeeming neighborhoods that I could find. I visited the site where JFK was shot, and found that to be interesting in a morbid sort of way.

If you have to visit a city in Texas, go to Austin or San Antonio. Either has more interesting things to do and see than Dallas.

Humboldt County

Worth visiting!

Not only been here, I live here!

Moved to Humboldt County in 1992 after living in several other states and places. I do have to admit, it’s like no other place I’ve ever been. It must be the combination of giant redwoods, the Pacific Ocean, and the university nearby—it all creates this terrific mix of outlooks and attitudes that makes HumCo unique.
