If you’re just looking for a place to eat, Hungry Heart Cafe isn’t the place to go. They serve a few tasteless “wraps” that I wouldn’t eat even if I’d been on a hunger strike. HOWEVER- and this a big however - the guy who owns this place is super nice and it’s a great place for shows. Definitely recommended as a hang out, but not as a restaurant.

Clientele is mostly upper-middle class liberal yuppies, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The people seem cool and the drinks are reasonably priced.

Best book store in Grand Rapids, in my opinion. They have a wide selection of used mass market paperbacks, comics, travel books, and a lot of other stuff. The place has a lot of character, mainly because it’s dusty and falling apart. But that’s really the way used book stores should be!

Mostly focused on rare books, first editions, etc., but they also have a small selection of used mass market paperbacks. Not much character (it’s too new to be dusty), but unlike a lot of used book stores, they’re very willing to cut deals.

Overpriced, zero character, clientele is mostly yuppie college kids on their laptops. But it’s cool because it’s open 24/7.
