Very wet, rainy, boggy, terrible bugs, but spectacular. Actually one of the more MENTALLY demanding trips I’ve done.

...it was worth it. It was very rainy and cloudy, like the west coast of Washington. That Homer Tunnel is pretty freaky when you meet all the tour buses.

Love this place so much we honeymooned on the South Bass Trail. Excelent. Didn’t see a single soul for days and the trip to and from the trailhead is very adventuresome in a rental car with minimal clearance. I constantly think about the next time we can go back, and we usually do every year.

There was only another party camping, so we pretty much had this special place to ourselves. Just us and the very friendly chuckars.

Thank you President Clinton for sparing this awesome area from being exploited by multinational companies that want to destroy and run.

Snowshoeing at 9,000 feet is pretty damn hard when you’ve come off a terrible flu and you are aclimated at 2,000 feet, but it was amazing. Tons of snow last year there. Couldn’t believe it. Meanwhile, back home in the northwest, we didn’t have hardly any snow.

I have been here once, shortly. But it was cloudy (surprise!) and I didn’t see a whole lot. Would like to go back and do more in depth exploring.
