Chatty and very sociable people, lovely entertainment that is often too cheap so that the entertainers stay poor.
I loved my hotel that was cheap, yet had so much history and charm. I mean charm in a good way, actually – nice paintings, heavily preserved and restored wood…
The thing I didn’t like was the drunken tourists on Bourbon street. The other (related) thing I didn’t like was how dirty some places were – Bourbon street shortly after some doofus has vomited on it, for example.
If you like strip clubs…i went to a nice and smarmy one. New Orleans, Louisiana, is just the kind of place to inspire you to watch cabaret or exotic dancers.
I wonder what it’s like now, after last year’s devastating hurricane.
The city has a heart. I fell in love with it.
Other fantastic things: the food. the music. the river. did i mention Cajun / Creole food and New Orleans jazz and po’ boy music?
