About a dozen years ago now, one of my coworkers started looking for a mail order bride. He focused on Russian women and found one named Julia. He doesn’t speak a word of Russian, and while I do, I hadn’t since college. I wound up having to translate things for him, including phone calls. Eventually he flew to the Ukraine where he married her, and she moved here a year later once her VISA came through. Now I’d like to go there and see her village.
