We were at a hole-in-the-wall pub style place one afternoon – myself and two gentleman friends that were there with me – and the waiter completely IGNORED me. He didn’t bring me a menu and when I tried to order, he simply didn’t write it down until one of my friends ordered for me. Now I don’t know if 1. it wasn’t an appropriate place for me to be, or 2. that is customary behavior, or 3. because I was obviously an American tourist.
What I do know is that I have never been so offended in my life!!!

We were staying in peoples homes and enjoying the experience of home-hospitality on this particular trip and I remember it was my first experience with European bedding. I had never seen a duvet before and I couldn’t find the top sheet on the bed. The duvet was down and so warm and cozy – I loved it! The best part though was they actually left a chocolate bar on our pillows. How thoughtful!
