I lived in Yemen for years and visited again recently. Sad about the kidnapping, because it’s a fascinating and exotic place with people who are wonderful if you get to know them. If they want you to chew qat with them, join them and take a few leaves—it won’t hurt you! (You won’t feel anything, trust me!)
