First a few tips.

1. Gas up before you get into the park. It is a long drive through the park and I almost ran out of gas.

2. Take your pictures of the trees next to something as a reference otherwise they just look like trees.

3. Bears live in that area, be bear ready. NO FOOD!

4. Take a hydration pack.

Just the drive alone ot the General Sherman Sequoia is a noteworthy experience. It has some of the most amazing vistas anywhere.

The trees themselves are almost beyond compare. Hundreds of feet tall some over 30 feet around. We saw just a small portion of the park and were very glad we took the time to see it.

Sidelines you might want to check out: HWY 245 near the outside of the park is crazy! It has hundreds of swithcbacks and was the most insane driving I have ever had to do. Beautiful views but it took us over 2 hours and we were on a switchback every 4-10 seconds. We estimate 1,800 switchbacks!

The Cider Mill Resturant is near the park. Just a local mom and pop diner but they actually have apple cider if you ask (Not on the menu). Decent food and great sevice for a good price for a resort town being so near.

The UFO house is about 2 miles down from the Cider Mill on the left. It is an old fiberglass house (1970’s vintage) made in the shape of a UFO.
