The actual palace is only open two days per year, but the gardens are still worth a visit, particularly in Spring when the Sakura are blooming. The gardens themselves are pretty big, but be careful because there’s not much food that’s close… you kinda have to walk back to Tokyo station to get lunch. You can get a glimpse of the actual palace if you go to Nijubashi (bridge). And you can only see the emperor one day of the year.
