I love cities that are built from scratch. Mostly, I like the idea of them and the kinds of thinking that it forces you to explore as you take into account what makes a city great, and how to articulate your ideas of greatness into neighborhoods, parks, roads, and businesses. Equally intriguing is the fact that these planned cities have tended to be fairly unsuccessful in execution: Brasilia and Celebration come to mind.
I learned about this city, which is being built about 40 from Seoul, from The Stranger’s Blog. This is something I tend to get obsessed about, so I’m going to keep a close eye on progress with this city. Here’s the article about it.
