A tip I have about this place — 9 months ago
Just got back from a great trip, get the Rough Guide to Singapore and buy an Ezlink transport card when you get there, and you will have a great time seeing the sights.
Definitely go to the Zoo (have breakfast with the wildlife, orangutangs, mandrils and a python) it is sooo worth it, get to see the elephants being washed too!) and Sentosa Island, go by cable car and monrail to get the full experience and so the songs of the sea at 7:40 each night, and the mall at vivo city is terrific. Easy to get around, people friendly and all speak English. Chinatown and the temples are amazing.
I got a great package deal from expedia and stayed at the Harbourville, and with my ezzlink card i could pretty much get all over the city from there by bus or train. it is close to the harbor so if you like the water, it is 5 minutes on the bus and about 20 on the monorail to sentosa.
