Forget about the coasts. Too many hurricanes. San Miguel de Allende is a really wonderful town. Cobblestones streets, colonial architecture, lots of fiestas. Sure there are gringos here too but that’s understandable given the quality of life. I think it serves well as a launch pad into the wonders of Mexico for nervous norteamericanos who want to try life south of the border without signing up to get dumped in one of those coastal resorts.
