All of the Outer Banks are great, but you should consider staying in Avon at The Avon Motel. It’s a small, family owned hotel with clean rooms and reasonable rates. It’s a short walk over to the beach. And when I say short, I mean over the sand dunes. There are several restaurants in the area that all seem to be of high quality. Make sure you bring some firewood, as you are allowed to have a campfire below the high tide line. When my girlfriend and I went there, we never actually got the fire going, I still think about it daily and can’t wait to go back.
