Because there’s not much more to do. Or at least don’t stay for three weeks like I did. The bulk of the food is boring, and tourists all get sick (no, we didn’t drink the water, either). There is garbage everywhere and rampant, stinky air pollution. That said, the beach itself was pretty nice, the locals were quite friendly, and we felt safe most of the time. The best thing we did there was to rent a Jeep and drive all the way around the island. The horseback riding was also great fun.
