One of my first teachers was a holocaust survivor named Rene Molho. Rene grew up on Salonika, until the Germans sent him and his brother to Auschwitz. He survived; his brother did not.

Rene died a few years ago, but someday I’d like to see Salonika. I hear that it is beautiful.
