I'm leaving for northern Italy in one week...  — 3 years ago

And will spend 5 days in Firenze, 2 in Ravenna, and the rest of my two-week stay driving through the countryside (we’ve got reservations to stay near Padua and in Mantua.) We’ve already arranged for day trips from Firenze to Siena and San Gimignano, and got tickets for the Accademia.

Any words of wisdom for us? I’ve been working diligently with Italian tapes and should be able to entertain local folks with my attempts to talk (always helpful for goodwill if not necessarily helpful to actual communication.)

Anything we MUST see, MUST do? This is my first trip to that part of Italia.
