Costa Rica

This ought to be in the past tense… what I wanted to do at this place, what I have now DONE there. I visited my son and his charges at Hogar Christiano, a facility for orphans and other vulnerable children in Puntarenas.

It was everything I hoped. I loved watching my son and “his” kids. This is the closest I’ll get to grandchildren for a while, and I loved every moment, even while I worry about what will happen to those little girls in the future.

My son has been involved in a summer project for the past two years, working in an hogar (home for children, sort of like a group home for foster children) in Costa Rica. This coming summer I am going to join him for a few days, and help out there too.

He talks about the children at the hogar with such warmth and enthusiasm, I’m very excited.
