A few other things to check out while you are stuck in Delaware: The Grand Opera House in Wilmington—Shows are frequent there: http://www.grandopera.org/events/ . The Grand Opera House website has a page recommending other things to do or see in the Wilmington area: http://www.grandopera.org/visitor/wilmington.php .

Also in Wilmington is Three Little Bakers dinner theatre: http://www.3lbonline.com/

If you are in central Delaware, there is the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover (http://www.schwartzcenter.com/scnavframe.htm ), where you can see both live performances and films.

Less frequently, you can catch a show at the Smyrna Operahouse too. http://www.smyrnaoperahouse.org/

You can also find some entertainment at Dover Downs: http://www.doverdowns.com/entertainment/index.asp

In Rehoboth, you can hear some live music at the bandstand all summer long: http://www.rehobothbandstand.com/schedule/

Delaware Friends of Folk has this handy calendar to help you find music, if your tastes run that way: http://www.delfolk.org/calendar.html and they also have monthly coffeehouses: http://www.delfolk.org/coffeehouses.html

Just a little something to distract you from how boring Delaware is. ;)

I am not sure I would plan a long distance trip to Delaware on purpose, but if you are in the region and want to pop in, there are a number of things to check out: the beaches—Not just Rehoboth (which is a fun place with both a board walk and tax-free outlet shopping), but also Dewey, if you are into partying, or Cape Henlopen state park, if you are more into nature walks. If you are into art, check out the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (http://www.thedcca.org/ ) in Wilmington. While you are in Wilmington, you might as well go to a Blue Rocks game (http://www.bluerocks.com/ ). Want to play the slots or catch a race? Check out Dover Downs (in Dover) or Delaware Park (in Christiana/Newark). Around U of D and in dire need of a good plate of nachos? Check out The Deer Park (http://www.deerparktavern.com/ ) In addition to nachos, the place has some history.
Looking for the just plain weird? Drop into the Dover Public Library and ask to see Patty Cannon’s skull (http://www.cityofdover.com/information/service/recreation/#question_11 ).

If you are stuck in Delaware for any length of time and are finding it too boring for words, remember that you are within reasonable driving distance of Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. Or check out what events are going on that you might not have heard about: http://calendar.tsnpub.com/calendar_dto.aspx

Don’t judge Delaware from the drive on I-95 (barely passes through one corner of the state), or from the drive down Rt 1, which bypasses the whole state.

... On the other hand, I’ve lived here all my life and can’t wait to LEAVE. (LOL)

Oubliette has gotten 0 cheers on this trip.
