A rainforest holiday…
... a diving holiday.
Where else in the world can you have a week in the rain forest, and then jump on a small plane and be on the Caribbean coast at a Scuba centre that afternoon?
We stayed a Pooks Hill, a jungle lodge near Belmopan, and spent a week looking at wildlife, river tubing, and exploring the local Maya ruins. Then we went down to Rum Point in Placencia – and I learnt to dive.
There I am, about 20 feet under water, with my wife next to me, when the dive instructor signals for me to read his “underwater notepad” and I see the word “barracuda”, and follow where he’s pointing.
