Finally! — 2 years ago
The typical crowd here is usually too scary-looking for timid old me to approach this place. (It’s a biker-biased crowd that I think may like to hang out here after going to the Fremont Fellowship next door, where regular AA meetings are held.) But today was a slow day, so I ventured in.
It’s a non-descript cafe that also serves “deli” fare (think hot dogs, Hot Pockets, etc.). The woman behind the counter today was friendly, and the mocha I got wasn’t half bad.
What made me happiest, though, was an old pinball game: High Speed by Williams, which happens to be one of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately, the table is showing its age, owing to a mechanical problem or two as well as a little too much friction on the play field. But it was a nice little trip down memory lane.
The other recreation there consists of two pool tables (cue rental: $1) and an electronic dart board, though the latter is scrunched into a corner and I can’t believe anyone can play that without interfering with one of the pool games.
