If you are vactioning in Minatitlan for the winter, they sell tours up the river to this town. It is where the thousands of birds migrate to from US and Canada.
This place used to be a very dangerous area about 20 years ago a gruop of Narcos went on a killing spree and did not stop until they had killed about 20 men.
But thanks to Javier Maldonado de Jesús, presidente municipal de Hidalgotitlan and others beforehim along with a community that wanted change, it no longer is nearly as lawless.
